Get present:

– Take a few deep breaths in and out.

Now that you are present, let’s begin…

We believe joy is integral to healing, and that it has an undeniable healing power. This activity aims to support you with cultivating a consistent practice of being aware of and documenting the joyous or happy moments in your life.

Part 1: Design your Journal

  • Recall one of your most recent moments of joy and then begin decorating your journal using quotes, affirmations, art and/or other things that bring you joy.

Part 2: Contribute to your Journal

  • Once your journal is decorated in a way that brings you joy, begin contributing to it.
  • Date your entry, and reflect on one of the prompts below (or add your own):
    • Who or what makes me happy or brings me joy right now?
    • What are the small or big things that bring me joy?
    • Who or what makes me laugh uncontrollably?
    • What song makes me want to dance?
    • How do I find joy in helping others on their personal path to growth, healing, and joy?
    • What makes me happy?
    • How can I access pleasure?
    • Who in my life makes me feel safe?
    • What feels good to me?
    • What am I grateful for?
    • Where is a place in nature that I enjoy, value or appreciate?
    • What kinds of tastes bring me joy?

Regrounding Moment

Regrounding Moment

Take a moment to breathe and thank yourself for participating in this activity. Feel your feet and take another breath.

An Invitation to Integrate

Consider how you can cultivate a consistent joy journaling practice or explore another practice of joy
. For example, can you add to your joy journal while you are in a physical space that brings you joy? Could you keep exploring the reflection prompts from this activity, but focus on one prompt a day, or one prompt a week?
